About six weeks ago, I was visiting my parents in Maryland. They still live in the house I grew up in, and for the most part my childhood bedroom looks like it did when I was still living there. The walls are pale pink, my stuffed animals still sit on the shelves, and photos of me and my friends still adorn the mirror above my dresser.

Above my desk, there’s a big bulletin board my dad hung for me when I was probably still in elementary school. Over the years into high school and summers between college, I tacked up items that were inspiring to me – places I wanted to visit, things I wanted to do, etc.

Items added from 1997 – 2003

Some of these items have literally been pinned to this board for two whole decades or more. But it wasn’t until my last visit that something magical occurred to me.

All these years later, 90% of what’s on this board is literally in my life:

  • Breckenridge (where I now live)
  • Skiing (what I love to do in my free time in the winter)
  • A trail marker (I hike and bike all the time!)
  • The Utah desert (which I have fallen in love with since I moved out West, and spend weeks exploring every spring – I never even could’ve anticipated this)
  • Grateful Dead bears (while I’m not a huge fan, my husband IS – the Dead always seems to be part of our road trip soundtracks!)
  • A poem about becoming an artist (art/design is a big part of who I am and what I now do for a living!)

Coincidence? I don’t think so.

While this board wasn’t meant to be a vision board per se, many of these photos and items were staring me in the face on a daily basis. They were ingrained into my subconscious, and they literally manifested into my future life. Without even realizing what I was doing, I created a vision, and that vision gradually became my reality – a reality that I am 100% head over heels in love with.

While I’ve believed for a long time in the power of creating a vision, realizing I had already created one, and that it had come to life in BIG ways, was powerful evidence.

My current vision board, hanging above my desk

I’ve had an actual vision board hanging in my office for the better part of a year now, but suddenly the dreams I have for my future became that much more believable. I can’t wait to see what things from this board become my future reality!

Have you created vision? What format worked best for you (board, scrapbook, writing, something else)? What has been part of your vision that’s already come true?Share in the comments!
